Watch: Jens Lekman Explains ‘I Know What Love Isn’t’ Album Title Track

Swedish singer-songwriter Jens Lekman has released a new video of himself performing the title track for his upcoming new album I Know What Love Isn’t (below). He stopped by the Guardian’s studio in London to perform it, and also explained the back story to the track.

He explains that when he was living in Melbourne, he and his best friend used to hang out with eachother, and at the time had been talking about getting married simply for the purpose of getting Lens a permanent residency in the country. They had both come off the back of relationships at the time.

But then he reveals that the problem he had with the arrangement saying “that in order for this to work I would never be able to tell the story. I would have to keep it a secret forever, and that didn’t really work for me…because I’m Jens Lekman. So I wrote this song about it and left the country.”

His new album called I Know What Love Isn’t, will be his first in five years. The tracklisting has been released as well (below) and features the 2010 track The End of the World is Bigger Than Love, and also features the track Every Little Hair Knows Your Name as the opening and closing track. Why that is, we’ll just have to wait and see.
