Jimmy Barnes has hopped on the Torn 20th Anniversary celebration train (yep, it’s a thing) covering the Natalie Imbruglia classic on ‘The Project’.
Barnes howled his way through the cover of the song and the best part is he had to do it in front of Imbruglia who was also a panelist on the Channel 10 show.
‘The Project”s Waleed Aly played guitar while Barnes sung and Imbruglia bopped along politely to the cover of a song that’s actually a cover in the first place. Imbruglia’s 1997 version came almost five years after the original by Danish singer Lis Sørensen was released.
It’s the first time Barnes has ever covered the song and Imbruglia egged him on. Afterwards co-host Peter Helliar joked that Imbruglia was going to cover Cold Chisel’s ‘Khe Sahn’ but unfortunately it never eventuated.
Barnes was on the show promoting his new memoir ‘Working Class Man’. You can watch the entire segment here or watch a snippet of the cover below.
