Well, this is a story all about how funnyman Jimmy Fallon flip-turned The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air opening sequence upside down to celebrate The Tonight Show‘s week-long Los Angeles residency. Nailed it.
Nineties kids everywhere were given reason to squee overnight, with the world’s preeminent goofball dishing up a pants-wetting shot-by-shot remake of Will Smith‘s iconic rap intro, from a ride in the Fresh Prince’s magic yellow cab, with DJ Jazzy Jeff at the wheel, to copping a squat on the bling-tastic golden throne, to a game of indoor hoops with The Roots, and even busting out The Carlton dance alongside Alfonso Ribeiro and Questlove.
Sadly, Will Smith himself does not make a cameo, but fans upset by the lack of Smith can tune in to The Tonight Show episode which airs in the States on Thursday, February 5th, when the actor is scheduled to stop by as a guest.
The clip is also not Fallon’s first homage to The Fresh Prince. He famously covered the intro theme song, while performing as Neil Young back in 2012. So we’d like to take a minute, just sit right there… Ah, forget it. Check out both Fresh Prince of Bel-Air tribute videos, below.
