Johnny Depp has joined Marilyn Manson on stage at the Golden Gods Awards last night, to many people’s surprise. He quietly appeared on stage rocking out on guitar and barely making any acknowledgement to the crowd.
Manson pulled out a few songs to start with, including The Dope Show, Mechanical Animals (which featured Pretty Reckless singer Taylor Momsen) before kicking into his latest single No Reflection. The light’s went down as he started the intro for Sweet Dreams, but when they came back up again, Depp had joined in the backing lineup.
After the song ended, Manson screamed at the crowd “If you don’t recognize my personal friend, personal savior, personal guitar hero… Johnny Depp.” Just as the crowd cheered for him, they kicked into, The Beautiful People.
Johnny Depp and his 9-year-old son will feature on Manson’s new album Born Villain, covering Carly Simon’s You’re So Vain, and will appear as the bonus track.
