Yet, strangely, he appears to be none of those things. Oh, Kanye West, can your Clique rants get any more cray?
If you thought the rapper couldn’t do much better after slamming the Grammys, commercial sponsorship and Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z’s track Suit & Tie in London at the start of the week, well, he just did. Yeezy told the crowd at his Le Zenith show in Paris overnight, “I am Picasso, I’m Walt Disney, I’m Steve Jobs,” as part of a 10-minute outburst.
As NME reports, West also threw in his two cents about pop commercialism:
“There’s no motherfucking awards or sponsorships or none of that shit that can stop the dedication to bringing y’all that real shit. No matter how they try to control you, or the motherfucker next to you tries to peer pressure you, you can do what you motherfucking want. I am Picasso. I’m Walt Disney, I’m Steve Jobs.”
Anyone in the crowd hoping to become a bit of a potty mouth got some good training last night. At the start of his rant, the crowd continued to echo back the last word in each line, which was more often than not an expletive. Watch the entire spiel below.
