Watch: Kiss Dedicate Song To Murdered Fan In Queensland

During their final Australian show in Queensland, Kiss paid their respects to local woman Shandee Blackburn who was recently murdered.

Stopping the show at Virgin Australia Stadium, Mackay, guitarist Paul Stanley took the time acknowledge Blackburn’s passing before dedicating single Shandi to her memory.

“I think everyone knows about a girl called Shandee Blackburn,” Stanley said. “We lost her and we wish she could be here with us. So why don’t we sing a song for her, all of us?”

As reported by Ultimate Classic Rock, Blackburn was a big fan of Kiss, as are her family, with Shandee actually being named after the band’s single Shandi. News.com.au reports that Shandee’s mother, Vicki, bought her tickets to the Kiss concert as an early birthday present.

Shandee’s mother still attended the concert and was completely taken by surprise when Kiss dedicated their song to her daughter, with many fans joining in to sing along to the tribute

“I wasn’t looking forward to [the concert],” explained Vicki. “It was just another one of those days where Shandee should have been there. I was quite angry that she couldn’t be there.”

“[The dedication] just really sweet and at the end he said, ‘Let’s say goodnight and goodbye to Shandee.’ I wasn’t crying at all until then. It was a very special moment.”
