Watch Lana Del Rey Cover Joni Mitchell’s ‘For Free’

Lana Del Rey is no stranger to a cover, almost performing other people’s songs as frequently as she performs her own, and her latest notch in the belt comes in the form of Joni Mitchell’s ‘For Free.’

She performed the cover on her current tour in both Seattle and Vancouver. The album the song originally comes from, Ladies Of The Canyon, is referenced several times on Lana’s latest album, Norman Fucking Rockwell!

This is only the latest cover Del Rey has given us this year. She now famously covered Sublime’s ‘Doin’ Time’ on the aforementioned album, and she covered Ariana Grande’s ‘break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored’ before appearing on ‘Don’t Call Me Angel’ alongside the pop star.

In fact, she loves covers so much that she recently said she has plans to drop an entire covers album.

“Somewhere in the back of my mind, I’ve been coordinating this concept covers album called Pacific Blue,” Del Rey told Los Angeles Times.

“It would be a very low-key thing, like acoustic Beach Boys stuff, Elvis, Chris Isaak. People usually think your career is over when you record a covers album or a Christmas album. But my musician friends and I are always playing covers. We could probably do that album in a week.”
