Lil Nas X has given his Jack Harlow collab ‘Industry Baby’ its live debut at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards at the Barclays Center in New York.
The debut began with Lil Nas leading a marching band onstage before revealing a Montero Prison backdrop (a nod to ‘Industry Baby”s music video) flanked by dancers in matching pink, delivering the heavily-choreographed performance. Harlow then joined to perform his verse on the song. Following the conclusion of ‘Industry Baby’, the song transitioned into Lil Nas’ hit ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’.
Lil Nas X received six nominations at this year’s awards – Video of the Year, Video for Good, Song of Summer, Best Direction, Best Art Direction and Best Visual Effects.
He and Harlow were among a star-studded list of performers for the evening, alongside the likes of Olivia Rodrigo, Kacey Musgraves, Twenty One Pilots, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, The Kid LAROI, Doja Cat, Foo Fighters and Machine Gun Kelly.
Both ‘Industry Baby’ and ‘Montero’ are set to appear on Lil Nas X’s forthcoming debut album Montero, which is set to arrive this Friday, 17th September.
