New Zealand royalty Lorde is the latest Swift Squad member to join Tay on stage during her 1989 world tour, having flown 19 or so hours to delight a Washington DC crowd with a surprise performance of her breakout hit Royals.
As goes all things Swift, Twitter has exploded with updates from the surprise duet between the two besties. Before bringing out her surprise guest, Tay gave the crowd a couple of hints as to who it could be.
Such clues included the 19 hours flight from said guest’s hometown to attend the show, and the fact that the song they were about to sing won Song of the Year at the Grammys.
According to the New Zealand Herald, Lorde was introduced by Swift as “one of my best friends in the entire world”. Awww.
See fan shot footage of the collab, below, while you ponder what surprises Taylor may have in store for her Australian fans when she visits us here this November/December. Ed Sheeran’s in town too then, just saying.
UPDATE 14/07/15: Lorde has taken to Twitter to comment on the collab, noting that a live-tweeted rehash of the performance may soon follow. See her tweets below
