It turns out Macklemore and notoriously grumpy muppet Oscar The Grouch are pretty good mates, at least that’s how it appeared when the rapper stopped by Sesame Street to offer up a trash-themed remix of his and Ryan Lewis’ breakout hit Thrift Shop.
Reinvented as Mucklemore, the rapper and his accompanying grouch MCs reworked the Grammy Award-winning song as an ode to all things trash, yuckiness and basically everything else that is “gross and awesome”.
As you can see in the video below, Mucklemore goes on to show his new muppet posse how to recycle their trash into fashion, because, as he reasons, “one man’s trash is another Grouch’s outfit.”
The Seattle rapper’s appearance on the show follows Kimbra’s Sesame Street guest appearance when she was taught how to properly “NOM NOM NOM” on a cookie from the master himself, Cookie Monster. “I think it’s every rapper’s dream to make it on Sesame Street,” Macklemore summed up to Billboard.
