In celebration of the launch of their new album Monuments To An Elegy, The Smashing Pumpkins played a show in London overnight where they were joined onstage by Billy Corgan’s sometimes friend, sometimes rival Marilyn Manson.
Reports Gigwise, Manson appeared on stage towards the end of the band’s set to perform an encore of his new single Third Day Of A Seven Day Binge, before kissing Corgan on the head and launching into a version of the Pumpkins’ classic Ava Adore. See fan shot footage of the performance below.
While Corgan acted as a “musical consultant” on Manson’s 1998 album Mechanical Animals, the two have been on-and-off feuding for some years. Last year in an interview with Larry King, Manson said the two hadn’t spoken to each other in some time, though added that there had been “no fall out.”
“I think he might have got mad once when I told him that it would be a good marketing idea that if he sold Charlie Brown T-shirts and bald caps at concerts and he may not have liked that,” said Manson at the time. “He does look like Charlie Brown a little bit, in fairness.”
Manson told Gigwise that he hadn’t seen the Pumpkins frontman for 15 years until earlier this week, adding that he’d been in rehearsals with them. All the hatchets seem to have been buried when Courtney Love shared an Instagram photo of her with Corgan and Manson.
