Footage has emerged of Metallica bassist Rob Trujillo rocking out with his 11-year-old son Tye at California’s BottleRock music festival over the weekend, and it’s both pretty hardcore and pretty damn cute.
Tye’s band The Helmets, who reportedly opened for the Red Hot Chili Peppers at this year’s BottleRock, were joined on stage by Tye’s old man during their set, so it’s lucky that he happens to be one of the most famous bass players in the world.
With basses in hand and two very similar haircuts, Tye and Rob let loose on stage, with Tye proving that he’s learned from the best when it comes to the proper headbanging technique.
Taking to Facebook to share the video, Rob Trujillo said, “Tye and The Helmets tore it up on the Main Stage at #BottleRock today!” Catch the footage and all its warm-and-fuzzy vibes below, alongside some photos from the day.
As for that long-awaited new Metallica album, here’s (roughly) when we can expect it to finally land.
