US indie-rockers Modern Baseball have paid tribute to a track by one of our own, dropping into triple j for Like A Version this morning to cover Violent Soho‘s 2013 track Dope Calypso off their record Hungry Ghost.
Putting their own take on the tune, Modern Baseball stripped back the heaviness of the instrumentation, as well as amping up the tempo. The result is a lighter, more indie feel on a classic Soho track. They also gave the vocals a shake up, using backings to create three separate vocal layers.
Modern Baseball have just wrapped up their Aussie tour leg, having played shows in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne last week, and now the Philadelphian rockers will head to Europe for the next portion of their tour.
