It was reported around these parts late last month that Island would be reissuing the last five albums released by influential rockers Queen. The reissuing project is designed to mark 40 years since the band formed and 20 years since the death of flamboyant frontman Freddie Mercury, who passed away in 1991. The album’s release date is September 5, which would have been the singer’s 65th birthday.
Now, a trailer has emerged previewing the reissues and reminding fans of their melodramatic camp gusto, and the fact that at the height of their powers they were, let’s face it, a pretty big deal, despite the fact these last five LPs are not exactly earth-shattering listens. You can see the trailer below.
The albums to be reissued are The Works (1984), A Kind Of Magic (1986), The Miracle (1989), Innuendo (1991) and the band’s final album, Made In Heaven (1995).
The first installment of Queen reissues came in March of this year.
