Watch: PS22 Chorus Do Tame Impala’s ‘Feels Like We Only Go Backwards’

Quickly becoming one of the world’s most well-known school choirs, the PS22 Chorus have opted for some Australian flavour in their latest cover.

The students – hailing from New York’s Public School 22 in Graniteville, Staten Island – took on Tame Impala’s Feels Like We Only Go Backwards – the second single from their new album Lonerism, which came out last week.

There’s a good chance that the kids had never even heard of Tame Impala up until they were given the lyric sheet. But they’ve put their own spin on the track, and they’ve done a pretty damn good job of it.

The two kids doing the solos are sounding bubbly, and the rest of the chorus are pretty animated too, adding a whole collection of hand claps at the 1.44 mark.

PS22 Chorus’ videos have received a combined total of more than 48 million views on YouTube, and there’s a good chance this will clock up quite a few more for them. It will also bump up Tame Impala’s overseas profile in a way that they probably weren’t expecting!

Here’s PS22 Chorus’ version of Feels Like We Only Go Backwards – along with the original track below it.
