Each week it becomes clearer that when he’s not being one of the world’s biggest movie stars, Johnny Depp lives a transient life travelling to various locations around the world to jam with famous rock stars. His latest stop was a Ryan Adams gig where he joined in on a cover of Danzig‘s signature tune, Mother.
As Rolling Stone reports, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor got an impassioned “Johnny! Johnny! Johnny!” chant after making an appearance at Ryan Adams’ London show at the Shepherds Bush Empire on Thursday night. Depp came out to perform two songs that helped close out the country star’s encore.
Playing before a crowd of 2,000 people and donning his traditional wide-brimmed, Bob Dylan-esque hat for the occasion, Depp laid down a melancholy blues solo over the Danzig classic and stuck around for Adams’ heartfelt performance of Kim, a track from the singer’s recently released, self-titled album.
Depp’s musical appearances have been frequent of late. Earlier this month, he appeared in a video shared by Paul McCartney, in which he and the ex-Beatle jam on a series of blues standards with a group of LA musicians, and appeared onstage with Aerosmith at their hometown Boston gig in July.
