Legendary metal outfit Slayer wrapped up their farewell tour over the weekend with a final show at The Forum in California, playing a set that covered the band’s extensive back catalogue and included the likes of ‘Raining Blood’, ‘Seasons in the Abyss’, ‘Born of Fire’, ‘South of Heaven’ and more.
To close out the night, the band played fan favourite ‘Angel of Death’ from 1986 album Reign In Blood.
After performing the track, the band remained onstage for quite some time as they were showered with applause from the audience, hugging each other and taking a photo of themselves in front of the crowd.
Singer and bassist Tom Araya finally addressed the audience for the final time, saying, “Thank you. Thank you very much. I want to thank you for sharing your time with us. Time is precious, so I want to thank you for sharing that time with us.”
“I’m gonna miss you guys,” the frontman continued. “But the most important thing is I want to thank you for being a part of my life. Goodnight. You guys be safe.”
Slayer formed in California back in 1981 and went on to release 12 studio albums throughout their career, most recently 2015’s Repentless. The band announced their farewell tour in 2018 and have been largely on the road since, coming to Australia last year as part of Download Festival.
