Aaron Lewis, frontman of American rock band Staind, has blasted concertgoers with an expletive-laden onstage rant after witnessing the crowd “molest” a teenage girl trying to crowd-surf during the band’s performance.
Footage of the incident which took place on Saturday, 31st May at Rockfest music festival in Kansas City has emerged (below). During the song Something To Remind You, Lewis halted the show and began to yell at a number of “fucking assholes” who were apparently getting a little too hands-on.
Lewis can be heard in the footage saying, “Alright listen up you fucking assholes, that fucking girl over right there is like 15 fucking years old, and you fucking pieces of shit are molesting her while she’s on the fucking crowd.”
The outburst continued. “Your fucking mothers should be ashamed of themselves, you pieces of shit. You should all be fucking beaten down by everyone around you for being fucking pieces of shit.”
Lewis’ comments eventually become a warning to other like-minded festival goers. “If I fucking see that shit again, I swear to God, I will point you out in the crowd and have everyone around you beat your fucking ass,” he can be heard saying.
He then wraps it up with, “Now, girls, feel free to crowd-surf safely,” which is met by cheers from the crowd as the band recommence their set.
Australian rapper Iggy Azalea, currently topping charts in the US, recently used similar language to describe her treatment at the wandering hands of fans while crowd surfing. “I had to stop,” she explained. “I still have to have barriers, even if it’s like 200 people, because people try to finger me… I will get lurk tweets for like a week before my show, like ‘I’m about to go to the Iggy Azalea show and I’m going to finger her,’ and I’ll see it and be like, please don’t! That’s a violation.”
