Pop megastar Lady Gaga has made a surprise onstage appearance during Tame Impala‘s set at LA’s FYF Festival.
Mother Monster joined the Aussie psych rockers as the band played their Currents album track New Person, Same Old Mistakes, for a climactic end to their set.
Video footage of Gaga’s appearance (below) doesn’t quite capture the whole moment, but it’s still pretty exciting stuff.
The musical odd couple’s live team-up comes ahead of Gaga dropping her first single since 2014, a track called Perfect Illusion, which was produced by Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker alongside Mark Ronson and BloodPop, who produced Justin Bieber’s mega-hit single Sorry.
Though it hasn’t been released yet, Perfect Illusion has already been topping the charts. The sheer volume of social media buzz around this song propelled it to the number one spot on the Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks and Billboard + Twitter Trending charts last week. The single is due to drop in September some time.
Meanwhile, GaGa and BloodPop have posted another behind-the-scenes photo of themselves from the studio. Check that out, alongside footage of the pop star’s live appearance with Tame Impala, below.
