In 2017, Dave Grohl‘s mother Virginia Grohl released her book From Cradle to Stage, which saw her talk to the mums of famous rock stars to help explore the relationship between a parent and their gifted children. A couple of years ago, it was announced that Grohl and his mum were developing a TV series based on the book, and now it has a premiere date.
The six-part From Cradle to Stage series will premiere on Thursday, 6th May via Paramount+, and will feature Dave and Virginia on the road having conversations with musicians and their mums.
Guests set to appear on the show include Imagine Dragons‘ Dan Reynolds and his mother Christene, Pharrell and Dr. Carolyn Williams, Miranda and Bev Lambert, Brandi and Teresa Carlile, Tom and Mary Morello and Rush‘s Geddy Lee with his mother Mary Weinrib.
“I believe that the relationship between a musician and their mother is so important because it’s the foundation of their understanding of love, which is surely every artist’s greatest muse,” Grohl said in a press statement.
“Having the opportunity to travel the country and tell the stories of these amazing women behind the curtain not only shed some light on the music that they inspired, but also made me appreciate the love that I was given from my own mother, my best friend.

Last week, Grohl shared a trailer for his own forthcoming music doco, What Drives Us. Featuring interviews with the likes of Ringo Starr, Flea, Slash and many more, Grohl describes the film as “a love letter to every musician that has ever jumped in an old van with their friends and left it all behind for the simple reward of playing music”.
