The Flaming Lips have kicked off their world record attempt today. Having just played in Memphis & Clarksdale, The Lips are currently on enroute to Oxford to perform a couple of songs with Hour of the Time Majesty. You can stream the event live via the O Music Awards site right now!
As Music Feeds previously reported, Wayne Coyne and co are attempting to break Jay-Z’s world record of playing the greatest number of live performances over multiple cities within a 24-hour period. The current record is 7 different performances over 7 cities, which Jay-Z achieved via use of a plane.
The Flaming Lips have opted to travel via bus, and in association with the O Music Awards have an uncut, uninterrupted live stream running for the entire 24 hours as they attempt to play 8 different shows in 8 different cities. The final stop will feature Grimes and possibly special guests Ke$ha and Roger Daltrey.
As mentioned before, The Flaming Lips’ Guinness World Record attempt is currently underway and can be streamed live via the O Music Award site…
You can also tweet The Flaming Lips as they travel between venues and ask the band any questions that you may have.
