Watch The Unreleased Beastie Boys, Nas ‘Too Many Rappers’ Video

A previously unreleased music video for the Beastie Boys‘ collaboration with Nas, Too Many Rappers, has surfaced online. The video for 2011’s Hot Sauce Committee Part Two track, was directed by Roman Coppola but was never officially released.

As pointed out by Pitchfork, the video surfaced on the website of film editor Neal Usatin who worked with Beastie Boys on other projects, including the Adam Yauch–directed short film A Day in the Life of Nathaniel Hornblower. It was reportedly found by Eoin McLernon, a student in Ireland, and has since been uploaded to YouTube.

The clip shows intercut raw footage of Nas and Beastie Boys Ad-Rock, Mike D and the late Adam “MCA” Yauch, in various locations like a park, a bridge, and a supermarket produce aisle. According to Slate, though it’s not clear when the video was filmed, it also appears to include footage from the Beastie Boys’ 2009 Bonnaroo performance.

Last year, Beastie Boys revealed they promised Yauch that they wouldn’t make any more music after he passed away, nor agree to license any of their past music for promotional use. The comments were made during court proceedings relating to their lawsuit against Monster Beverage Corporation for its unauthorised use of five of the group’s songs in a promotional spot.

Too Many Rappers was nominated for best rap performance by a duo or group at the 2010 Grammy Awards. While Nas, who will be in Australia soon for Sugar Mountain Festival and for his own headlining shows, has not commented on the video he has re-tweeted a link to it. Representatives of the Beastie Boys have yet commented on the clip.
