Watch: This Guitarist Sets Himself On Fire Mid-Set For Some Reason

Sometimes it sucks to be the opening band. Most punters are too lazy to get to the show on time and end up missing your set, and those who aren’t late are usually so keen to see the headliner that you could set yourself on fire and still not make an impact.

At least, that’s the theory that the guitarist from support act, Church Tongue, put to the test before Ohio metalcore kings Beartooth took the stage at their house party show in Terre Haute, Indiana, recently.

The ‘Tooth boys promised a ruckus when they first announced their intimate DIY run of shows across the US, but the opening band’s guitarist, Chris Sawicki, took things to the next level when the tour kicked off. Not only did the axeman have himself SET ON FIRE mid-set, he continued to chug onward with his back aflame.

We’re not sure why. Maybe he took the Beartooth song Set Me On Fire too literally? Either way, that Church Tongue guitarist is so hot right now.

“Night one: Oshie got hit in the face with his own bass and a dude in Church Tongue legitimately lit himself on fire,” Beartooth posted on Twitter, along with footage of the, uh, explosive incident. “If you didn’t believe us, check this shit out.”

Beartooth, who have also just been announced as part of the 2015 Vans Warped Tour lineup, will be heading to Aussie shores to support local lads In Hearts Wake on their epic Skydancer Tour this May. They’re also in hot contention for a slot at Soundwave 2016.

Seriously though, don’t try this at home.
