Watch WAAX Put Heavy Spin On Basement Jaxx’s ‘Good Luck’ For Triple J Like A Version

OOOOOFT. Brisbane punk rock royalty WAAX took on Like A Version this week for triple j and they’ve delivered the most special, heavy version of Basement Jaxx’s ‘Good Luck’.

One of Australia’s most eclectic performers, WAAX’s Maz brings the most wild energy to the cover.

Where Lisa Kekaula’s voice brought that franticness in the original, Maz’s insane vocals take on the task in this performance.

As well as their cover, they delivered a performance of their iconic single ‘Labrador’. Midway through the performance, Melbourne rapper Illy sneaks into the studio and picks up his headphones and mic.

He raps a few of his own lines before singing along with Maz. It’s simply iconic.

In their Behind the Like A Version interview, they describe ‘Good Luck’ as a “badass breakup song”.

The band also revealed that they’ve been working with Illy. They said, “We’ve been working with Illy on some stuff and he happened to be in town. We thought what better way to do a nice little crossover.”

WAAX have performed five dates at The Tivoli in Brisbane over the last couple of weeks.
