Willow Smith is definitely having a *moment* when it comes to her music right now.
The 20 year old has been consistently creating music and art, sharing it all on social media over the last few years. What’s been great about Willow’s approach to music is that she’s freely moved across different sounds and genres as her own tastes have developed.
Sure, many will remember her as the child star who was signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation as a pre-teen. Now though, Willow’s debuted herself as an artist walking a new creative path all her own.
Her new album Lately I Feel Everything, has Willow leaning into a love for alternative and pop-punk music, collaborating with the likes of Tierra Whack and Avril Lavigne.

The first cut from it, the Travis Barker-featuring ‘Transparent Soul’, brought Willow back onto the radars of many, the response being largely positive. The ‘Whip My Hair’ girl goes punk? Hell yeah.
Inspired by the likes of My Chemical Romance and Paramore, Willow’s had a great stock of influences to be inspired by and during her Lately, I Feel Everything concert streamed on Facebook, she kicked things up another notch.
Performing her 2010 viral hit as part of the event, Willow surprised viewers by taking up a seat during the performance, and getting her head shaved. It’s not the first time she’s sported a shaved look, but to roll it out at the end of what was a special performance, there was added significance to the move.
“I’m always shaving my head at monumental times in my life, when things are really changing. And this is definitely one of those moments,” Willow said in a behind-the-scenes clip.
