Melbourne singer-songwriter Woodes has completely transformed Vance Joy‘s all-conquering ‘Lay It On Me’ for triple j‘s Like A Version covers segment.
Woodes’ cover of ‘Lay It On Me’ is entirely subversive, turning it into a stunning electro jam with a thumping bassline. On top of that, she also unexpectedly mashed in OutKast‘s ‘SpottieOttieDopaliscious’ in the form of live trumpets.
While in the triple j studios, she also performed a booming rendition of her song ‘Dots’. Watch both performances below.
Woodes has just released her Golden Hour EP, and will wrap up her current east coast tour with a show at Brisbane’s Black Bear Lodge on Saturday, supported by Seavera and Eilish Gilligan.
