Indigenous hip hop artist Birdz has given an old Yothu Yindi track new life for triple j’s covers segment Like A Version.
Birdz and his m8s dropped their version of the Yothu Yindi track ‘Djapana (Sunset Dreaming)’, from the band’s 1999 album One Blood. The cover was especially significant as it came during NAIDOC Week, helmed by the National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee.
While in the triple j studios, Birdz also performed his original single ‘Black Lives Matter’, which he released last year. Watch both of his Like A Version performances, below.
