Now here’s a pretty cool compensation gift for missing a flight.
NME reports that The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne has accepted a fan’s request to take acid with him and Yoko Ono after the fan missed his flight due to the bomb-scare caused by Coyne earlier this month.
Coyne was stopped at Will Rogers airport in Oklahoma City on November 10, after a dead grenade in his hand luggage set off alarms at a security checkpoint. The singer explained to authorities that he was given the explosive as a joke. He was then released. However, the prank caused major delays and several flights leaving the airport were cancelled.
He’s since apologised to all who were affected by the incident, but that’s cold comfort to one blogger, who vented his anger on The Lonely Ogle after losing $1000 due to the Coyne-caused delays at the airport.
“All we could see was Wayne standing by the security checkpoint with a bunch of agents around his bag. I was stuck near the food court, wasn’t able to cross the airport to get to my gate. Flight left without me, all because of Wayne Coyne.”
“I think Wayne Coyne should reimburse me, at a minimum I want to drop acid with him and Yoko Ono.”
And, it seems Coyne is set to come good on the request, telling Pitchfork: “That sounds like fun. I can’t speak for Yoko, but I would say yes, let’s do that.”
The Flaming Lips will be in Australia at the end of the year to play the Falls Festival in Lorne and Marion Bay.
