Beloved musical satirist “Weird Al” Yankovic has cancelled his schedule appearance at the Marion Bay leg of Falls Festival in Tasmania later this month.
In a statement posted to Facebook, Yankovic says he’s “extremely sorry” to announce the cancellation, which he says is due to “unforeseen logistical difficulties by the festival’s production in arranging for our show to come to Marion Bay”.
Yankovic says his other two Falls Festival dates in Lorne and Byron Bay, as well as his appearance at Southbound festival, will “all remain as scheduled”.
“Again, I’m really sorry, Tasmania,” Yankovic says. “If there was any possible way for me to still do the show, I’d dearly love to — but they’re telling me now that there’s not. Hopefully I’ll get to come there again sometime in the near future.”
Falls Festival has declined to add further comment to Yankovic’s statement.
Aside from his Falls appearance in Lorne and Byron Bay, Yankovic is also scheduled to play headline shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide in January, as well as a slot at Western Australia’s Southbound Festival. Catch all his upcoming Aussie dates, below.
UPDATE 23/12/15: Weird Al’s replacement act has been announced: A Mr G Summer Heights High singalong.
