White Night Melbourne Reveals 2015 Program

Melbourne’s White Night have revealed their program for 2015, and the festival looks set to greatly expand on last year’s event, with nine precincts dotting the CBD next year.

Taking place on the night of Saturday, 21st February, Melbourne’s third White Night will see more than 40 local, national and international artists put their work on display around the city.

White Night’s 2015 music program will feature three all-night stages, and organisers have said they will cater to a wide variety of musical tastes. An indie music stage will feature 12 acts over 12 hours in Alexandra Gardens, and 2015 will also see the introduction of a world music stage.

The names of musical acts set to perform are yet to be revealed. The 2014 event saw sets from the likes of Client Liaison, Beaches, The Murlocs, Baptism Of Uzi, and Black Cab.

Other highlights of the 2015 program include the world premiere of Australian-Indian piece Sita’s Garden, which promises “giant, lit lotus leaves and pontoons” featuring Bollywood performances along the Yarra. Portugese company OCUBO will display their projection piece 4 Elements on the facade of the Royal Exhibition Building, while the dance-crazy I Could Have Danced All Night will be in a new location on Lonsdale Street.

White Night will transform Melbourne for 12 hours between 7pm on Saturday, 21st February and 7am Sunday, 22nd February. The 2015 event will be even larger than last year’s, encapsulating nine city precincts from Southbank Boulevard to Victoria Street in the north, with new events around the Yarra River, Alexandra Gardens and the Melbourne Museum.

The full program for Melbourne’s 2015 White Night will be available in February, along with public transport timetables. While White Night will feature many free exhibitions, some will also be ticketed. For more information, visit the White Night website.
