US rapper Wiz Khalifa (real name Cameron Jibril Thomaz) and Aussie electronic duo Peking Duk are set to perform at this year’s Optus RockCorps event, which fans can earn free entry to by donating some of their time to charity.
Wiz Khalifa’s headline performance at the Optus RockCorps concert will come in the middle of his upcoming Australian tour, and will be his only Sydney show druing his trip down under.
The rapper says he’s ready to reward those who have given something back to their communities.
“Giving back to the community is something I’m passionate about and support wherever I can,” Wiz Khalifa says. “I can’t wait to play in Sydney and see all the Aussie fans.”
Peking Duk, whose recent Splendour In The Grass 2015 set was captured in a crazy 360-degree video, are also primed to bring their string of hits to Sydney fans.
“We really admire young Australians for giving back to their community and look forward to mixing up a different show for them at Optus RockCorps,” says Peking Duk’s Adam Hyde.
Further artists will be announced for Optus RockCorps 2015 in the coming weeks.
Optus RockCorps rewards volunteers in local communities with money-can’t-buy tickets to exclusive live gigs, and Optus RockCorps 2015 is set to take place at Sydney’s Luna Park Big Top on Wednesday, 30th September.
Now in its third year, Optus RockCorps is set to host over 3,000 volunteers who will have each donated four hours of their time helping out in their local community. Volunteers outside of Sydney who participate in Optus RockCorps 2015 will receive a $70 Ticketmaster voucher for their troubles.
