WOMADelaide already delivered an impressive list of 20 names including The Cat Empire and Violent Femmes in their first lineup but now they have expanded on that adding a whole stack of new acts to the bill.
Genre mashing artists Asian Dub Foundation lead the second announcement as the headliners of the festival’s final night while UK house producer Spiro, French harmonising sisters Ibeyi and US indie-rock band Calexico have also been added.
A fresh list of local acts also appear on the lineup with Husky, NO ZU, Kev Carmody and Sampa The Great, among others, set to play the annual world music and culture festival.
Organisers have also revealed that there will be a 34 metre, inflatable replica of Stonehenge coming to the festival. Named Sacrilege the installation was originally commisioned by the Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art and the Mayor of London in 2012 and made the trip down-under for last year’s Sydney Festival. Much more than just an art installation, it’s also a giant jumping castle. Win!
WOMADelaide 2016 will run over four days from Friday, 11th March to Monday, 14th March at Adelaide’s Botanic Park. Tickets are on sale now.
