A woman has been found dead at the Victorian leg of the Earthcore dance music festival.
A spokesperson from Victoria Police tells Music Feeds that the woman’s body was discovered at a property in the central Victorian suburb of Pyalong, just after 4:30pm on Saturday, 26th November.
Details are fairly scant at this point; the 25-year-old has yet to be formally identified, while her cause of death has yet to be determined. However, police have confirmed to Music Feeds that her death is not being treated as suspicious.
Police will prepare a report for coroner. Music Feeds has contacted organisers of the 23-year-old “outdoor music, arts, culture, lifestyle festival” for comment.
The four-day Victorian leg of the Aussie trance fest, which wrapped up last night, saw performances from a huge lineup of DJs including Mad Maxx, Birds Of Prey and One Man Orchestra.
News of Saturday’s tragedy comes after police expressed their frustration at the high number of drug-related arrests at the Sydney leg of the event — Earthcore In The Park, also on Saturday — which saw one man hospitalised following a suspected drug overdose and a policeman treated after being bitten by an angry female punter.
Five people were arrested at the Victorian leg of the festival last year for drug possession, however it’s not yet known how many arrests — if any — were made this year.
