Wu-Tang Clan To Record New Album?

Fresh from a startling appearance at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, the Wu-Tang Clan appear to be finally ready to record a new album.

Founding member of the fabled hip hop crew Raekwon suggested to Spinner that a new LP was in the works, saying, “It’s kind of early to announce a new album right now… We’ve been working on some things, though.”

However, there still remains the shadow of the differences of opinion between RZA and Raekwon that have reared their head in the past. The two were somewhat divided over the Wu-Tang Clan production and sound on previous album 8 Diagrams, leading Raekwon to make the ambiguous pronouncement to Spinner, “As far as Wu-Tang goes, it’s something that we really got to get together first for.”

So despite their triumphant festival set (which Raekwon actually was not present for, while RZA won’t be around on the forthcoming Australian tour), life is not all rosy within the Wu-Tang camp.  As well as those lingering issues, Raekwon admitted he had reservations about last year’s approved documentary Wu-Tang Saga, particularly its accuracy and how it was marketed.

He said, “It gets a little weary because everything don’t be really so much facts [sic]… But that be the other guy’s opinions on how they want to promote it. I’m used to it. My life ain’t a movie, so I just got to let it run out.”

The Wu-Tang Clan arrive in Australia in August to play highly anticipated dates in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
