Yeah Yeah Yeahs Announce Big Day Out 2013 Sideshow In Sydney

If you’re a Yeah Yeah Yeahs fan and you live in Sydney – you have the right to be feelin’ pretty damn happy this morning.

Karen O and her comrades have announced a very special sideshow in Sydney – bringing “a swirl of dangerous riffs and stomping propulsion” to The Metro in late January.

The New York power trio have three studio albums under their belt – 2004’s Fever to Tell, 2007’s Show Your Bones, and 2010’s It’s Blitz – all of which have made them cult favourites and floored audiences around the globe.

Last month, Karen O unveiled a new song called Strange Love, which she has recorded for Tim Burton’s new film Frankenweenie.

She told NME that the track was more like “an unconventional, unconditional love song” with elements of “exotica and calypso.”

“I went in the direction of exotica and calypso stylistically because it’s quirky, good vibes music of that era and when you throw in a theremin solo it’s a marriage made in heaven. We ended up with a love song for the end of the film to the film! Frankenweenie is so special, it’s an unbelievable honour to be involved with it.”

Who knows, maybe she will sneak that into the set at the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s Sydney sideshow.

Tickets go on sale this Friday at 9am at http://www.bigdayout.com.
