New York trio Yeah Yeah Yeahs will be in Sydney performing Stop the Virgens over five nights at the Sydney Opera House later this month, featuring Karen O in the lead role. Now Yeah Yeah Yeahs drummer Brian Chase has announced a special gig at the The Flinders bar on the 29th of May promising “mystery guests” which had lead to speculation that other members of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs may also appear on the night.
The gig is being dubbed “An improvised collaboration” and will see local artists Sophia Brous and Shags Chamberlain perform alongside Chase. Jack Mannix of Circle Pit will also perform on the night and Melbourne band Teenage Mothers will open the proceedings.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are no stranger to playing intimate club gigs. In 2010, to celebrate their 10th Anniversary the band played a show in the 250 capacity Mercury Lounge in New York.
