Rapper YG Criticised For Asking Women To Flash Breasts At Spilt Milk Festival

American rapper YG has been criticised for asking female festival-goers to flash their breasts at him during his performance at Canberra’s Spilt Milk event over the weekend.

The Compton MC — who made headlines after asking girls at an all-ages Brisbane show to do the same thing last year — asked females in the 18+ Spilt Milk crowd to show their breasts on Saturday, 17th November, and allegedly said he wouldn’t continue his performance until they did.

According to reports on social media, YG (real name Keenon Daequan Ray Jackson) also criticised one woman’s breasts in front of his festival crowd.

In a post directed to the official Spilt Milk Facebook page, festival-goer Taylor Jackson said:

“If his total lack of ‘performance’ wasn’t enough, when he stops his set to berate woman [sic] to ‘show their titties’ and chant it until girls felt the need to expose themselves so he would continue his set was DISGUSTING.

“I am embarrassed that I had to watch this happen, not to mention how so many other people felt having to experience that.”

In a statement posted in the comments of Ms Jackson’s post, Spilt Milk organisers said the statements made by YG “were not ok”.

“When this behaviour goes unchallenged, we are part of the problem, not the solution. We thank the courageous people who have voiced their feelings, so this disrespectful and predatory behaviour is exposed for what it is,” they said.

“We apologise that our stage was used in this manner and for not becoming aware sooner. YG’s comments in no way reflect the values of Spilt Milk and contradict our goals of a safe and inclusive space for all attendees. We can not, and will never, control an artist’s performance, but we will continue to focus our bookings on forward thinking artists that share our values.

“To anyone who takes part in this discussion, please consider that many people experience this and other types of predatory behaviour daily. Take the time to listen, learn and be part of the change. If you do not take part respectfully your comments will be deleted.”

Spilt Milk has also been accused of removing a photo of YG (below) from its Instagram account, which contained the caption “The man. The Legend”. Music Feeds has contacted organisers for comment.

ACT Policing told Music Feeds only one person was arrested at Spilt Milk on Saturday, with three others also taken into custody.

In total, eight tablets “suspected of being narcotics” were seized by police.

YG performed a headline show in Melbourne on Friday, 16th November, and is due to perform in Sydney and Brisbane later this week.
