You’ll Soon Be Able To Add Bangers To Your Snapchats Thanks To This New Music Feature

Your nudes are about to get way more spicy, thanks to Snapchat introducing a new music-powered feature that’ll let you soundtrack your Snaps with the latest bangers.

As Tech Crunch points out, the app seems to be swooping in to steal TikTok fans, amid mass confusion over the future of the controversial hit-making app, which is facing a ban in the US and parliamentary inquiries here in Australia over national security issues.

Not trusty old Snapchat though. The ghost app is about to trial a new feature allowing users to add music (either pre or post-capture) to their pics & vids from what the company promises will be a “robust” catalogue of music, after Snapchat inked licensing deals with a bunch of music industry partners, including Warner Music Group, Warner Chappell, Universal Music Publishing Group, NMPA publisher members, Merlin and more.

To boot, when your mates receive one of the new music-filled Snaps, they’ll then be able to swipe up to view the album art, song title and artist name.

A >Play This Song< link will also be available, which, when clicked, will let you spin the full song on your streaming service of choice.

The head honchos at Snap HQ reckon it’s primed to become the music tastemaking platform of the future, thanks to its influence as a tool for close friends as opposed to random followers, with its younger-skewed user base valuing friend-to-friend recommendations above all else.

“We’re constantly building on our relationships within the music industry, and making sure the entire music ecosystem — artists, labels, songwriters, publishers and streaming services — are seeing value in our partnerships,” a company spokesperson said re: the new feature.

Snapchat Music is on track to be rolled out this Aussie spring.

In the meantime, you can download the app here.
