Lollapalooza is going virtual this year, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic absolutely ravaging the live music scene around the world.
But, to counteract the lack of festival this year, they’ve managed to wrangle together a collation of archived sets, freshly recorded new ones and live-streamed performances to give you a lineup that is absolutely froth-worthy.
There’s four days worth of streaming, exclusively on YouTube, for you to sink your teeth into. Kicking off at Friday 8am AEST, you’ll be able to treat yourself to archived sets from Alabama Shakes and Run The Jewels, as well as a live performance from up-and-coming rapper and R&B artist DaniLeigh.
Later in the night, you can immerse yourself in Paul McCartney’s full 2015 set, before diving into new sets from Tom Morello and H.E.R. There’ll be a double serving of archived performances from BROCKHAMPTON and and Tove Lo, before the full 2016 set from LCD Soundsystem.
Not to mention Byron Bay legends Skegss will also be playing on Friday! Stoked!
There’s no messing about on Saturday, with Tenacious D’s set from 2019 opening up the stream. From then on, there’ll be performances from Kehlani and Lupe Fiasco, as well as legendary sets from Metallica and The Cure. Chance The Rapper’s full 2017 set will air before local hero Alison Wonderland performs a live DJ-set.
Sunday’s stream is really all about OutKast’s 2014 set from when they reunited for select festival performances around the world – including Splendour In The Grass. But, in the lead up to that, you can find archived sets from Lorde, Tyler The Creator, LL Cool J and Pearl Jam.
Monday is ending things with a bang, with would-be Splendour 2020 act Yeah Yeah Yeahs opening up the stream, alongside A$AP Rocky’s 2015 set. Princess Nokia will be performing a live set, before a triple whammy of archived performances – The Weeknd in 2017, and Khalid and Portugal. The Man in 2018.
Finally, the full 2016 set from Arcade Fire will air in celebration of the ten year anniversary of the band’s seminal 2010 album The Suburbs.
