Tenacious D have stopped all the teasing and announced their new album Post-Apocalypto will arrive this November, and it features Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl on drums.
To accompany the album (which is the follow-up to 2012’s Rize Of The Fenix), Jack Black and Kyle Gass have also announced a six-episode animated series featuring songs from the record, which will premiere through their YouTube channel.
Post-Apocalypto features 21 songs, and will be released on 2nd November, after Tenacious D’s animated series begins on 28th September, with a new episode released every Friday until the album’s release.
Each frame of every episode was reportedly hand-drawn by Black, and the characters are voiced by Black and Gass.
“Post-Apocalypto finds Tenacious D thrust into a world of complete and utter destruction following the drop of an atomic bomb,” reads a media release about the album.
“Surviving the attack in classic cinematic fashion (a good old imperishable 1950’s refrigerator), the duo quickly learns that new forms of evil have spawned from the blast. One thing becomes apparent — for humanity to prevail, Tenacious D must save the world.”
