Another Strokes Album In 2011?

They may only be releasing new album Angles in Australia today, but Strokes guitarist Nick Valensi is already suggesting a new album may be forthcoming from the New Yorkers in 2011.

In an interview with Shortlist (via Gigwise), Valensi states that the batch of new songs from which Angles was harvested, could lead to a whole new record sooner rather than later.

Valensi said, “There’s material in the works. We have a lot of music stockpiled so, in terms of content, we’re in a good place right now.”

He added, “If I had it my way, we’d have another album out by the end of this year.”

Bandmate Julian Casablancas also chimed in to the discussion, remarking, “I think we’re going to start working on stuff as soon as possible. We were supposed to already, but it took longer than expected to master the album”.

“I didn’t want to work on Strokes No 5 until Strokes No 4 was done.”

The Strokes are currently enjoying SWSW in Austin, Texas, with largely festival shows scheduled up until August according to their website. One would think, however, that with a new album to promote, more dates would be added at some point. It is, after all, their first LP in five years.
