Atreyu Have Announced Their New Album, ‘Long Live’

The wait is almost over for Atreyu fans, with the reunited Californian metalcore heroes announcing that their long-awaited comeback album, entitled Long Live, will be released some time in September.

The band’s first LP since 2009’s Congregation Of The Damned will feature defiant new single So Others May Live, which the band dropped in the lead-up to their Australian tour for Soundwave 2015.

Speaking to Music Feeds at the festival, drummer and clean vocalist Brandon Saller gave us some tasty tidbits about the band’s upcoming full-length, describing it as “brutal” and “fucking awesome”.

“We’re stoked. It came out great,” he said. “We’re very much just shooting from the hip with this record, and whatever came out first is what we did. Alex [Varkatzas, vocalist] is fucking as brutal as ever. And it’s fun. It’s a very fun, cool record.”

As Saller explains, part of the new disc’s promised brutality comes, in part, from Varkatzas’s decision to do away with clean singing. “Those were conversations that we had… Like, what do we love most? What’s our strong suit? What do we feel most comfortable doing? ‘Cause that’s what we wanna do, ’cause that’s the most fun.

“So I think, for [Alex], he was, like, ‘I just wanna fucking come out and rip people’s heads off’,” he continued. “So it was, like, ‘All right. Cool. You don’t wanna sing? You don’t sing. That’s how we started. I’ll sing. And you just fucking go nuts.’ And everyone’s stoked on it. And he’s doing different shit. He’s doing a lot of different stuff on the new record — different shit he’s never done before.”

Atreyu have teased their forthcoming release, Long Live, with an image uploaded to their official Facebook page, which you can check out below along with their full Soundwave 2015 interview and images from their Melbourne set.
