Cub Sport have announced their biggest headline tour to date, which will see the pop darlings tour across Australia this April, off the back of their forthcoming self-titled third album.
The group will play some huge venues in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Fremantle and Adelaide — including an under-18s matinee show in their native Brisbane — after the album drops on 18th January.
The tour announcement comes on the heels of the band’s new single ‘Party Pill’, the second track to be taken from their upcoming album (following ‘Sometimes’).
According to a statement from the band, ‘Party Pill’ is inspired by the experiences of singer Tim Nelson, as he began falling in love with his bandmate Sam Netterfield (the pair married in August), but attempted to hide it from himself and those around him.
“Sam and I first fell in love when we were 17 but I was super scared of what would happen if I came out and decided it’d be better for us to just be friends,” Nelson said.
“This part of our story had been weighing on my heart for a long time and I’d held onto a lot of shame and embarrassment, but I realised last year that I needed to let go.
“So, I finally turned the pain of those years into something beautiful and it feels like I’m setting myself free.”
The video for ‘Party Pill’ also marks Cub Sport’s directorial debut. Watch the clip below, alongside the group’s upcoming national tour dates.
