In the week which gave us a surprise album release from Beyonce, New Zealand pop songstress Lorde (Ella Yelich-O’Connor) has dropped a new single titled No Better. Lorde has also taken to Twitter to discuss the song, saying, “Hope you’re liking NO BETTER! it’s an old track that didn’t make the album that i wanted to do something wif. all future stuff will be NEW!”
No Better continues the feathery vocals and minimal electronic aesthetic of Lorde’s 2013 album Heroine, which has just received four Grammy nominations, including Best Pop Vocal Album, with its single Royals up for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Solo Pop Performance.
The singer has already said that she’s working on new material. Talking to Billboard earlier this week she admitted, “I’ve been writing but I haven’t really had time to hit the studio as of yet… That’ll be the end of this year, or next year.”
