My Chemical Romance have announced that they will break up the band after 12 years together.
In a statement on their blog overnight, Gerard Way and co. haven’t given a definitive reason as to why they have suddenly decided to pull the pin, other than that “like all great things, it has come time for it to end”.
They’ve also paid tribute to their legions of fans and all the bands and artists they’ve met along the way, thanking them for “being part of the adventure.”
My Chemical Romance last toured Australia in January last year as part of the 2012 Big Day Out and for a handful of sideshows. Their last studio album was 2010’s Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.
Here’s the full statement from the band:
Being in this band for the past 12 years has been a true blessing. We’ve gotten to go places we never knew we would. We’ve been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible. We’ve shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure.
My Chemical Romance.
