Northlane have returned today with a smorgasbord of announcements, including news surrounding their next album Obsidian, as well as a new single AND upcoming tour dates.
The heavy trailblazers will release their sixth album on Friday, 1st April 2022, with the album’s second taste ‘Echo Chamber’ out right now. This record marks the first time the band are self-releasing their music.
It’s a critical reminder that sometimes we just need to step away from the computer. Pairing a throbbing beat with their signature bottom-heavy sound, it’s a timely track that moves their sound forward.
“It’s hard to be on the internet without seeing people get continuously angry about something,” said frontman Marcus Bridge.
“We’re addicted to having a hot take about nothing and it’s quite exhausting. At the same time I shouldn’t let it bother me that much but it’s like a ringing in my ears after a while, so I’m praying I go deaf.”
‘Echo Chamber’ is the band’s second single to feature on the upcoming record, with ‘Clockwork’ kicking off this new era from the band back in March.
The band are slated to head out in tour in June next year, with five massive dates locked in to support the album.
Things will kick off in Fremantle on Thursday, 16th June, before heading to the Bridgeway Hotel in Adelaide the next night on Friday, 17th June.
On Saturday, 18th June they’ll hit the Forum in Melbourne, with Sydney’s Max Watts up next on Thursday, 23rd June, before wrapping things up at The Tivoli in Brisbane on Saturday, 24th June.
Plini, Sleep Token and ALT will be joining the band on all stops of the tour.
