Polish Club are gearing up to release new album Now We’re Cookin’ next month, and today the duo have shared new single ‘Whack’ and revealed national tour plans.
The fourth single to be released from Now We’re Cookin’, ‘Whack’ is probably the most raucous rocker of the bunch, filled with fuzzed-out garage riffs and propulsive rhythms, though it still contains some of the poppier charm the band have been slowly introducing.
It’s just one of many fresh cuts the band will have in store when they hit the road from September, taking in stops in Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, the Gold Coast, Brisbane and more with Press Club on support duties.
Polish Club announced Now We’re Cookin‘ last month alongside the stirring ballad ‘No Heaven’. Upon announcing the LP, the band’s David Novak described their approach to its recording: “Just trim the fat.”
“There’s no excess, there’s no fuckin’ two-minute outros. If we did the same bluesy-soul shit album after album, it would be much harder to take inspiration or satisfaction from that,” he added. “Repeating yourself doesn’t somehow mean you’re being more true to yourself. I think it’s the opposite; you’re just being lazy.”
Listen to ‘Whack’, and check out national tour dates below. Now We’re Cookin’ is set to arrive Friday, 23rd July.
