Ryan Adams has just taken to his socials to confirm the name and release date of his new album, Prisoner, as well as the name and release date of its lead single, Do You Still Love Me?.
Prisoner is due out on 17th February, and Adams has shared its cover art today, which you can check out below — it kinda looks like an avant-garde impressionist painting of Santa Claus, who we can only assume is Adams himself. Maybe a little left field, but hey, ’tis the season to be jolly.
Prisoner will be the follow-up to 1989, Adams’ cover/remake of Taylor Swift’s album of the same name (a format he’s said he will never touch again). It also marks Adams’ first collection of new music since his 2014 self-titled record.
Do You Still Love Me?, which Adams has performed live a bunch of times, is due for release on 7th December in the US, which could be tonight in Australia or even sometime tomorrow, local time.
In between revealing all the juicy details of his new material, Adams also played an exclusive show at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney last night, where he showed off Do You Still Love Me? and an improvised track called Gosh, I Love Toast.
Check out crowd-shot footage of him playing the tracks alongside the cover art for Prisoner, below.
