Slipknot To “Take A Couple Of Years Off” Before Next Album

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has revealed the band’s plans to take a few years off after their next tour wraps up, giving him time to turn his attention to other projects.

Speaking to Rocksvierge (via Blabbermouth) Taylor said, “we’re gonna finish touring and then we’re gonna take a couple of years off again to, kind of, let everything chill.”

“Everybody is gonna, kind of, do their thing, and then, in a couple of years, we’ll get back together and see what happens again.”

In that time, Taylor says Clown is going to make films while Taylor himself has plenty to keep him busy, including getting started on a new Stone Sour album.

“2016, I’ll probably wrap up touring with Slipknot, you know, around — like somewhere around this summer or whatever, and I’ll take five minutes off and we’ll start working on a new Stone Sour album,” he also said in an interview with The Pulse Of Radio, as Blabbermouth points out.

Stone Sour released an EP …Meanwhile In Burbank last year, however, their last full-length effort was 2013’s House Of Gold And Bones – Part 2.

Taylor also has another project on the go, appearing in mega-band Teenage Time Killers’ as part of the Greatest Hits Vol. 1 LP which also features Dave Grohl, Nick Oliveri from Queens of the Stone Age, and Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba. The album is out at the end of next month.

Slipknot released their last album .5: The Gray Chapter last year and played songs from it when they toured Australia as a Soundwave Festival headliner earlier this year.

Earlier this year Slipknot guitarist Mick Thomson hinted that fans will not have to endure the same long wait for the band’s next album as they did for their latest one. “We hope to do our next record sooner after touring .5. We don’t want to spend the same amount of time between albums as we’ve done with the last two,” he said

Given Taylor’s latest comments it’s unlikely that this is still the case, which will come as a slight blow to fans. Let’s just hope the wait isn’t another long six years.
