Winston Surfshirt have dropped the Teahupoʻo of all announcements: a new single, new album and new national tour.
The Sydney Northern Beaches dudes’ latest slice of surf rock is dubbed ‘Same Same’ and comes packing a throbbing bassline, catchy-ass chorus and jazzy interludes. It reps our first lick of their new album Sponge Cake, which is due out on Friday, 29th September.
“This was one of the last songs written for Sponge Cake, It started in a different pitch and was much slower,” explains titular frontman Winston.
“I think through almost playing it live a couple days after it was written for about a year helped to form it into the party that it is now. We called in some extra brass and percussion which really helped create it in to the song you’re hearing today.”
And to toast the release of their new LP, the six-some are hitting the road for a national tour this November with support from frequent collaborators Polographia and local legend Crooked Letter.
They’ll hit seven dates across the nation in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Hobart, Wollongong, Perth and Adelaide.
